Privacy Policy
The short version: Rainbow’s End Logbook sends nothing to us. Your logbooks, your pictures and your marked positions stay on your device, and leave it only when you share the logbook yourself.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you put into Rainbow’s End Logbook — each voyage’s name, the boat’s name and type, the dates, the names of the people aboard, the charter company and base if you enter them, every day’s places, notes and miles, the captions on the pictures, and every line of the ledger — is stored in the app’s local storage on your own device. The app has no server of ours and no account system, and it makes no network requests at all.
Deleting a day, a logbook, or the app deletes this data from the device. If you back up your device, your backup may include the app’s data like any other app’s; backups are managed by Apple under Apple’s terms, and we never see them.
Pictures
When you tap Add pictures or Take a photo on a day, the app asks for the photo library or the camera, through the system’s own prompt, only at that tap. Each picture you choose or take is copied into the app’s own folder on the device at a reduced size, with a small thumbnail; the logbook records only the file’s name and your caption. Your original in the photo library is not changed or deleted. The pictures leave the device only inside a PDF you share, or when you tap Share on one picture in the viewer. Deleting a day deletes its pictures; deleting a logbook deletes them all.
Position
When you tap Mark position on a day, the app asks for your location while in use, through the system’s own prompt, only at that tap. It reads one position and writes it into that day as two numbers, shown as degrees and minutes. It never reads your location in the background, never on a schedule, and never sends it anywhere. Clear removes it from the day.
Sharing the logbook
Share builds a PDF of the logbook — the cover, the days with their notes and pictures, the ledger — on your device and hands it to the system’s share sheet only when you tap the button. Where it goes from there (Mail, AirDrop, Messages, Files, a printer) is your choice, made each time. The app keeps no copy beyond the file it made for you, and we never see it.
What the app does not do
Rainbow’s End Logbook contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and no third-party data-collection software. It has no background modes. It does not read your contacts or anything else on your device. It works offline — by design, because it is meant to be used aboard, where there is often no signal.
Purchases
Buying the app is handled entirely by the App Store. We receive no payment details, no card numbers, and no personal information from your purchase.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app ever changes any of the above — for example, by adding a way to keep a logbook on more than one device — this policy will be updated first, with the effective date above revised, and the change described here.
September 15, 2026: first version.
