Privacy Policy
Rainbow’s End Provisioning collects nothing. Your voyages, meal plans and grocery lists stay on your device. They leave it only when you print, export or send them yourself, or when you switch on iCloud sync, which uses your own iCloud.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you put into Rainbow’s End Provisioning — your voyages (their dates, crew count, provisioning pattern, tank capacity, notes, who drinks what, and the names of the crew you divide the shopping among), the meals you plan on each day and any note about where a meal is eaten ashore, the meals you add to the library, what you record as already aboard, your beverage rates, your adjustments to a grocery list and the items you’ve checked into the cart, the boat’s name, and what each provisioning run cost with a picture of its receipt if you add one — is stored in the app’s local storage on your own device. The app has no server of ours and no account system, and with iCloud sync switched off (its factory setting) it makes no network requests at all.
Food allergies
If you record an allergy aboard, and whose it is, the app uses it to flag meals that person can’t eat. This is health information about a real person. It stays on your device, in your own iCloud if sync is on, and on any printed calendar, which shows the allergy warnings with names. We never see it.
Deleting the app deletes this data from the device. If iCloud sync was on, the copy in your own iCloud remains until you remove it (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage) — which also means reinstalling with sync on brings your voyages back. If you back up your device, your backup may include the app’s data like any other app’s; backups and iCloud alike are managed by Apple under Apple’s terms, and we never see either.
Printing and exporting
The List tab can print the meal calendar and the grocery list as PDF files, or export them as spreadsheet files. Each is made on your device and handed to the system’s share sheet only when you tap the button — where it goes from there (AirDrop, Files, Mail, a printer) is your choice, made each time. The app keeps no copy beyond the file it just made for you, and we never see it. When the shopping is divided among the crew, Send hands one shopper’s share to the share sheet as text in the same way: only when you tap it, only where you choose to send it.
Receipts and Ship’s Purse
After the shopping, you can record what each store cost and add a picture of the receipt, taken with the camera or chosen from your photo library. The app asks for the camera the first time you tap Photograph the receipt, and sees only the picture you choose from the library. The picture is kept in the app’s storage on your device.
Send to Ship’s Purse puts the cost and its receipt picture in a folder shared only by Rainbow’s End apps on the same device, where Ship’s Purse finds it. Send to another phone hands the same file to the share sheet. Each happens only when you tap it, and we never see it.
iCloud sync — your own cloud, not ours
The Voyage tab offers one switch: Sync your voyages across your devices. It is off until you turn it on, on each device. Switched on, the app keeps a copy of your galley — your voyages and every meal planned on them, the cart and your adjustments to each list, what each provisioning run cost (the receipt pictures stay on the device that took them), what you’ve recorded as already aboard, your beverage rates, your own meals, and the food allergies you’ve entered, names included — in the private database of your own iCloud account, so an iPhone and an iPad signed into the same Apple ID show the same plan. That record is Apple’s infrastructure under Apple’s terms, readable only by your Apple ID: we have no access to it, no copy of it, and no way to know it exists. Nothing about this creates an account with us. Switch sync off and the app goes back to making no network requests at all; delete the app’s data from iCloud at any time in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
What the app does not do
Rainbow’s End Provisioning contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and no third-party data-collection software. It does not use your location. It uses the camera and the photo library only when you add a receipt picture. It does not read your contacts or anything else on your device. It works offline — by design, because it is meant to be used aboard and in the aisles of a store where there is often no signal; iCloud sync, if you turn it on, catches up the next time the device finds a connection.
Purchases
Buying the app is handled entirely by the App Store. We receive no payment details, no card numbers, and no personal information from your purchase.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app ever changes any of the above — for example, by adding an online feature — this policy will be updated first, with the effective date above revised, and the change described plainly rather than buried.
October 6, 2026: the app can record what each provisioning run cost, with a picture of its receipt from the camera or the photo library, and send it to Ship’s Purse on the same device or to another phone; the sections above say what is stored and where it goes. September 17, 2026: reworded to the voice standard; the food-allergy paragraph now says an entry also syncs to your iCloud when sync is on. Nothing about what the app stores changed. September 12, 2026: version 1.0.6 can divide the grocery list among the crew, so the list of what the app stores now names the shoppers’ names, and sending a shopper their share joins printing and exporting; nothing leaves the device any other way. September 10, 2026: the app’s name changed from Rainbow’s End Galley to Rainbow’s End Provisioning; nothing about what it stores, or where, changed. September 7, 2026: the optional iCloud sync shipped, and this policy gained the section describing it — the promise above, kept. September 6, 2026: first version.
