Ship’s Purse Guest — Effective September 17, 2026

Ship’s Purse Guest collects nothing and sends nothing about you. It reads a purse by the code the bookkeeper gives you, and keeps what it reads on your device.

What stays on your device

The app stores, in its own storage on your device: the codes of the purses you have opened, the last copy of each purse, and which person you are in each one. It has no account and no server of ours.

Forget this purse removes a purse from your device. Deleting the app removes everything. A backup of your device may include the app’s data like any other app’s. Backups are managed by Apple, and we never see them.

Reading a purse

When you type a code, the app asks Apple’s iCloud for one record, stored under a name computed from the code in the public storage of Rainbow’s End Ship’s Purse. The record is encrypted, and the app opens it on your device with a key made from the code. The code itself is never sent. The app only reads; it never writes to iCloud, and it needs no iCloud sign-in.

The purse holds what the bookkeeper entered: people’s names and shares, amounts, notes and receipt photos. It is the bookkeeper’s purse; Ship’s Purse’s own privacy policy covers how it is shared.

Receipt photos

A receipt photo is fetched only when you tap Receipt ›, opened on your device, and kept in the app’s cache, which iOS may clear at any time.

What the app does not do

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party data collection. The app asks for no permissions: not your location, contacts, camera or photos. It makes no network requests except to read the purses you open.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, children included.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes any of the above, this policy will be updated first, with the effective date revised and the change described here.

September 17, 2026: first version.

Ship’s Purse Guest shows the bookkeeper’s last update. It is not a substitute for counting the envelope.
