Privacy Policy
Ship’s Purse collects nothing. Your purses stay on your device. A purse leaves it only when you share it with your crew, sealed with a code nobody else holds, or when you export it yourself.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter is stored in the app’s own storage on your device: each purse’s name, dates and currency, the names and shares of the people aboard, the budget, and every entry in the ledger with its amounts, notes and payment method. The app has no account and no server of ours.
Deleting a purse or the app deletes this data from the device. A backup of your device may include the app’s data like any other app’s. Backups are managed by Apple, and we never see them.
Receipt photos
When you tap Take a photo or Choose a photo on an expense, the app asks for the camera or your photo library, only at that tap. The photo is copied into the app’s own folder on the device, without its location data. Your original is not changed. Deleting the purse deletes its photos.
Sharing with your crew
Sharing is off until you switch it on. When it is on, the app sends the purse, including people’s names, amounts, notes and receipt photos, to Apple’s iCloud, in the public storage of the app’s own container. Before it leaves your device, the purse is encrypted with a key made from an eight-character code, and it is stored under a name computed from that code. Anyone you give the code to can read it in Ship’s Purse Guest. Nobody without the code can read it, including us.
Sharing needs your device signed into iCloud. Switching sharing off, choosing a new code, or deleting the purse removes it from iCloud. The stored purse is governed by Apple’s iCloud terms.
Exporting
Export builds a PDF statement, a spreadsheet or a backup file on your device and hands it to the share sheet when you tap. Where it goes from there is your choice each time. We never see it.
What the app does not do
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party data collection. The app does not read your location or your contacts. It makes no network requests unless sharing is on.
Purchases
Buying the app is handled by the App Store. We receive no payment details and no personal information from your purchase.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes any of the above, this policy will be updated first, with the effective date revised and the change described here.
