Privacy Policy
The short version: Watch Bill Crew sends nothing to us, and nothing anywhere. The plan you scan and the name you choose stay on your phone. Your phone’s code leaves it only as a QR code on your screen, which the skipper scans in person.
What the app stores, and where
The plan you scanned from the skipper’s screen (the voyage, the crew’s names, the rotation and the standing orders), the name you chose, when you scanned it, and a random id made on your phone are stored in the app’s own storage on your phone. The app has no server of ours and no account system.
Leave this voyage, or deleting the app, deletes this data from the phone. If you back up your phone, your backup may include the app’s data like any other app’s; backups are managed by Apple under Apple’s terms, and we never see them.
Your code
Your phone shows a QR code for the skipper to scan. It carries which crew member you are, which version of the plan your phone holds, the random id, when you took the plan, and whether and how far ahead your alarms are set. It goes only to the device that scans your screen. Nothing is sent over a network.
The camera
The camera is used only to scan the skipper’s code. The app asks for it, through the system’s own prompt, the first time you tap to scan. Nothing the camera sees is kept.
Alarms and notifications
Wake calls are set on the phone itself, through iOS. The app asks for alarms and notifications, through the system’s own prompts, when you choose your name, or tap Continue on Alarms on this phone. Nothing about them leaves the phone.
What the app does not do
Watch Bill Crew contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and no third-party data-collection software. It makes no network requests. It does not read your location, your contacts, your photos or anything else on your phone. It has no purchases.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app ever changes any of the above, this policy will be updated first, with the effective date above revised, and the change described here.
September 26, 2026: first version.

The person on watch wakes you in person. That is the standard; this phone is the backup.
