Watch Bill Crew — Support
Getting started
What does Watch Bill Crew do?
It shows your own watches from the skipper’s watch bill: when you are on, whether on the helm or as lookout, and your time off watch, and it sets an alarm before each of your watches. It is free. The skipper plans the watches with Rainbow’s End Watch Bill.
How do I get the plan?
Ask the skipper to open the Share tab in Watch Bill. Tap Scan the skipper’s code, scan the code on their screen, and choose your name. No signal is needed.
Why does the skipper scan my phone back?
Your phone shows its own code under My code. When the skipper scans it, their device records that your phone has this version of the plan and how far ahead your alarms are set. That is how the skipper knows whose phone is up to date.
Can I try it without a skipper?
Yes: scan the practice code below, from this screen or a printout.
Your watches
What does My watch show?
Your status first: on watch until when, or off watch until your next and on which post. On watch, it says when you move from lookout to the helm and who comes on. Under it, the version of the plan your phone holds and when you scanned it. Night view, red on black, is one tap at the top.
The skipper changed the plan. What do I do?
Scan the new code on the skipper’s screen. Until you do, your phone follows the old version and rings at the old times. Your phone cannot know of a change it has not scanned.
It says “All hands” or “Watches stopped”.
All hands: watches have not started; the skipper begins them when the start or the run out is over, then everyone scans the new code. Watches stopped: the skipper has stood the watches down, for a night at anchor for instance. When they restart, scan the new code.
I have left the boat. How do I stop the alarms?
At the bottom of My watch, tap Leave this voyage, then tap again. The plan and its alarms are removed from your phone.
Alarms
Will the alarm ring if my phone is on Silent?
On iOS 26, yes, once you allow alarms: the wake call is a full-screen alarm with a Stop button. On earlier iOS it is a notification, which Silent and Focus can hide; Alarms on this phone says which yours uses.
How do I test it?
Open Alarms on this phone, tap Continue and answer iOS, then tap Test: ring in one minute. Try it with the phone on Silent.
Is the alarm guaranteed?
No. Alarms can be silenced, phones go flat, a phone can be left below. The person on watch wakes you in person, by name. That is the standard; this phone is the backup.
A practice code
To try Watch Bill Crew without a skipper, scan this code with Scan the skipper’s code. It is a practice passage with four crew, Alex, Blair, Casey and Drew, on the rolling watch in Central time, with watches running until November 25, 2026. Choose any name. Your phone will set alarms for that person’s watches; Leave this voyage removes them.
