Getting started

Where do I start?

Fill in the boat’s five sections once: vessel, communication, safety gear, skipper, and tow vehicle. They save with the boat. For each trip after that, tap New trip and fill in the itinerary and the overdue time. Check the crew and contacts.

I have more than one boat.

Tap + New boat under Your boats. Her sections start blank; the crew, itinerary, and contacts stay as they are. Tap a boat’s name to switch to her. Forget this boat removes the one you’re on.

Do I have to fill in everything?

No. Empty fields stay off the PDF. A short plan is better than none: what the boat looks like, one contact, where you’re bound, and when you’re overdue.

The plan

Who do I give it to?

Someone reliable ashore: family, a friend, a dockmate. Not the Coast Guard; a float plan isn’t filed with any agency. Tell them if plans change underway, and tell them when you’re home.

What is “Consider us overdue after”?

The time your plan holder starts calling. Set it after your last planned check-in: late enough that a slow beat home doesn’t set it off, early enough to matter.

What does my contact do if I’m overdue?

The first page of the PDF has a boxed guide addressed to them: call the boat, then each contact in order, then the rescue authority, with your numbers filled in. It tells them to report only what they know.

How do I send it?

Tap Share PDF and pick Mail or Messages. The PDF is built fresh from the form each time.

My plans changed underway. What do I do?

Tell your plan holder. A text covers a small change. For a new route or an extra night, update the itinerary and send a new PDF.

Your data

Where does my information live?

On your device. Fully offline. No account, no server of ours, no tracking; nothing you enter ever leaves your device unless you export it yourself. Details are in the privacy policy.

I use an iPhone and an iPad — do they share the draft?

No. Each device keeps its own draft. Fill in the plan on the device you’ll have aboard, or email yourself the PDF.

What’s the difference between “New trip” and “Clear all”?

New trip clears the itinerary, the overdue time, and the plan note. It keeps the boat, gear, people, and contacts. Use it between trips. Clear all erases everything saved on the device, every boat included.
